Met the guys and girl for dinner. we had a really interesting talk which comprised of everything under the sun. actually it started after this mini drama took place at a table diagonally across ours. the guy suddenly slammed his cup on the table and the water split onto another guy at a separate table. for a moment, the area was silent and jade's "traumatised" face told us that there was something going on. AFTER THAT, the whole guessing game commenced with nic leading the way. he started speculating about the relationship between the two ladies and one guy at the drama table, we added in bits and pieces and it turned out really funny. then we went on to army guys and girls, educate the guys a bit on make-up, movies and the list goes on... an enjoyable dinner :)
Went to mr quek's house for chinese new year visit. thanks to the "star" of the show-jquek, we laughed so hard. i felt that my cheeks were almost going to cramp. and that duck has something against my red bow, he kept insulting it.
Vivo with boon today. checked out the long awaited river island. the clothes there are quite nice, different from elsewhere. and they have all kind of styles: rugged, hip hop, clubbing, nostalgia wear. the designs are relatively stylish but the prices are on the high side so it depends on whether you are willing to pay for the design and of course the brand. their dressing rooms are also specially designed as the position of the mirrors enable you to see yourself from all angles, which helps you decide if you look great in whatever that you're trying. we walked in and out of the store so many times today to make sure that we get the best deal and i ended the day with a top. don't ask for the price, you'll probably stare at me haha. but i felt that it was a good deal as the design is quite unique and of course, i look nice in it. haha. and yes river island brings in new stocks once every week or fortnightly. you know where to find me in future ;)
For once, mahjong has become more exciting because kevin has taught us the right way of playing it and there was monetary reward at the end! now i'm a pro at the game already and have won myself some pocket money haha. we even watched kungfu mahjong to pick up some skills. look at how crazy we are over mahjong huh ;)
at jw's request:
Today marks the end of my internship. just as i was getting used to life there, it's time to move on. but i've really enjoyed my stint there. the company made things bearable- stuff like typing games and office jokes helped us tide through the boring times. and i have cultivated the good habit of reading the newspapers every morning haha. the lawyers in my department are friendly and cool too! i've learnt to move out of my comfort zone to take the initiative and hopefully my eq has improved. now i'm going to miss waking up at 7.30 every morning, walking to the mrt station, going to office and the high court, witnessing whacking between lawyers... and having coffee at the bistro :)
Many thanks to shuwen, aston and jiahao who came to the high court for the hearing on culpable homicide today and broke the monotnous life of mine haha. talking to them brings back my sanity. after lunch we had wanted to sit in for the release of budget topics at the parliament house but were being bounced out because the guys were dressed in jeans!
Spent the day at the court again. the same thing seems to replay everyday. and jw keeps calling me the young ms tan when i absolutely don't look like her! talking about this ms tan, she must learn to keep her cool man. the guys told me that she was getting desperate and losing her grip when arguing with the "slippery" opposing lawyer. must be like our lawyers: cool and solid. even know how to crack jokes at the end of the session. and since the lady with the unknown status has disappeared, now they turned their attention to this new lawyer who joined in the afternoon. tsk tsk. leopards who never change their spots haha. but on a sidenote, they were quite nice. they had planned to treat me to dinner (that's what they say but don't know true or not) but i already had a date with my jie mei! so xiong di, next time! ;)
skived during trial today. for a good reason- i went to see mr lee off at the airport together with jane, aston and jiahao. it was a good break from the monotonous hearing, made me feel fresher and i managed to last for the second part of trial. anyway, mr lee was much more chatty today as compared to sunday. apparently, he was "unhappy" about jquek and tanlong talking about nothing but army for the whole time haha. and he treated to us at fish and co! took loads of pictures too; mr lee enjoys taking photos haha. a little sad that he's leaving us but hey, we can have a class trip and visit him in hongkong :)
Spent the whole day at the high court. the first time in weeks. it was a pre-trial session, in preparation for interrogatories. some parts were really technical and it takes a pro to be able to sit through the whole session k. and i'm the champion out of the three of us! i never once left in the middle of the hearing, unlike jw and nic who went out to sleep in alternate turns. tsk tsk. haha. and this was the first time i heard guys assessing girls. goodness it's quite funny at how they discuss this lady (her status is unkown at this moment), saying that she looks different from where she was seated as compared to a closer distance. jw and i have the same opinion about her but nic arh, his taste and observations a bit weird larh. agree jw? ;)
Had a farewell lunch for mr lee. he's going back to hongkong permanently after being in singapore for so many years. perhaps it's good for him as his family is there so he won't feel lonely anymore haha. the tshirt that fangying designed was super cool. it looks really great, like some designer's shirt :)

we wanted to take jquek without his cap but he has perfected the art of shielding his face with his hands

Fun day today. friday is basically a bankrupt day and so i accompanied wl to court. two defendants turned up and started their "story" so as to delay the declaration of their bankruptcy. the registrar was quite lenient though and allowed adjournment of the cases. according to wl, at first you may feel quite sad for them but subsequently, you will realise that many of them are actually making up "stories" to sound as pitiful as possible when in actual fact, they are cheats. then it is your turn to feel cheated as you "wasted" your emotions feeling sorry for such people. here comes the exciting part (ok sort of), one of our defendant is a young convict who is currently serving a jail term. hence we had to have the hearing in a different room and not the usual chambers. we had it in the court of appeal and it looks really cool alright; i felt like i was in a spaceship haha. that's how high tech our new supreme court looks. and the guy got put in this box. the funny thing was although he showed up, he didn't even attempt to plead for adjournment. instead, he agreed with everything the registrar said. so wl and i concluded that he treated it as an "excursion" haha. she was quite angry as she felt that he had wasted her time. anyway we went for coffee after that and it made the poor guys who were stuck in the office, feeding on chicken pies and dim sum, really jealous haha.
Another uneventful day. spent my time reading files and books again. but this time k borrowed a book for us which was quite interesting as it had offences like conspiracy and harrassment in it haha. now do you know that sex discrimination is actually under harrassment?? haha.
Today was a more useful day as sm occupied us with another case. we were to check up books and "act" like lawyers, think of the steps to take next. it was the most reading i've done since the holidays. my whole brain was bombarded with legal terms and latin words. still i managed to understand what is going on and that is a good thing haha.
We have discovered a new way of entertaining ourselves apart from reading the newspapers which is to play online msn games! quite a good source of amusement as we tried different games. we were so bored that we even took this online typing test and typing games. and when we're not at the computer, we're eating. look at our lives. luckily towards the end of the day, p gave us powerpoint assignments which made us feel slightly more useful.
High court again in the morning as we needed to act on the banks' instructions to repossess houses belonging to people who defaulted their instalments. felt quite sorry for them as it really isn't a nice feeling to evict people out of their house. so some turned up at the court to ask the judge(registra is the right term technically) for mercy. and i dare say it's because of my presence that the registra was so lenient and actually gave a three month adjournment to one case when the norm is only two weeks! look at my power HAHA. after that it was boring time at the office again. sm gave us files to look through for "evidences" but i got so bored after ploughing through for a short while! even photocopying documents have become cheap thrill to me...
Went to the nkf hearing for the first time. it was quite exciting in the morning, looked like what you would see on drama shows. the prosecutor cross examinined the guy. i think he should just admit it all and stop prolonging everyone's suffering. it would be specifically the judge and the lawyers. the judge has to practically sit through the hearing EVERYDAY, from TEN in the morning to FIVE in the evening, until everything is settled. take pity on the poor judge man!
A normal day. went to the supreme court in the morning to catch the nkf hearing but it was adjourned again! so we went to another hearing which was quite sad and disgusting at the same time. the judge was going to pass the sentence already but at the last minute, the accused's previous charges could not be agreed upon by both sides and so it had to be adjourned! grr... anyway i finally saw the sph woman whom the guys have been talking about. according to them, she's present at every hearing and she's always talking to herself animatedly. she even went up to them to introduce herself as an executive working at sph which is really quite weird. if she's holding such a high post, shouldn't she be busy at sph instead of being present at every hearing. furthermore she's not seated in the stand for media.
