HAHA yesterday was really funnnnny. tyunn jquek and i were in the library studying, totally engrossed :P when suddenly this librarian pounced on us and started shouting, "Whose sweet is this?" we were really shocked as we weren't even eating it. tyunn just so happened to put her fruitips on the table. then the librarian asked for tyunn's ez-link card and walked away looking pissed. for the rest of the time, we were really bewildered and tyunn was apprehensive abt getting back her card- as usual. so we went to the counter and guess what? tyunn had to do corrective work order- water plants in the library?! my goodness that was the funniest stuff i've heard in days haha. she was given a pail and a pathetic plastic container and was told to water the plants in the library. we found it so funny and couldn't stop laughing haha. then we followed tyunn ard the library, "camouflaging" her from public eyes. jquek was nice enough to help her water ONE plant. well i was in charge of blocking her and carrying our stuff haha. anyway tyunn was rather "traumatised" by this experience and she kept seeking reassurance from me! typical tyunn -.-
Watched Memoirs of a Geisha with some 3U ppl today. as usual, ppl who read the book found the movie less exciting beacuse of certain details which were not shown. this is always the case isn't it? it happened for harry potter, lord of the rings and now, it's the same for memoirs. i guess we'll have to wait for some genius director and scriptwriter to come along before an adaptation can be as good as the book itself huh haha. anyway the show was kind of literary- the pace was slow and steady yet not so slow that it bores you. the actors chosen suited their roles rather well. quite insightful as well- presented the life of a geisha, that it's actually not what it seems and geishas are quite pitiful in a way. in all, we felt rather satisfied with the movie and were glad that we actually caught it. now this is the kind of movie that i wouldn't mind spending money on haha.
Made an interesting observation during gp lesson today. we were discussing on politics and SURPRISINGLY the guys were so interested and taking part actively in the discussion. judging by the guys' usual standards, when we say that they seemed interested, it really means so. as for the girls, er... haha though we were not exactly in a world of our own, we sort of left the "entertaining" to the guys which they happily accepted :) no wonder there are so few female politicians as compared to males- i suppose it's in the genes -.-
I was looking at this flower arrangement which my aunt has juz made for us. then i realised that flower arranging is not an easy task after all. there is a technique as to what kind of flowers and leaves to use so that everything looks nice together; how much to use so as not to create a "too much" effect... blah blah. it's nice to take up a skill that is uncommon and sth that u like. makes u different from the rest in a certain way. maybe i'll consider taking it up 50 years later HAHA
Had lunch at macs with bong and lianz :) tried the chicken rice burger. it was alright but not as nice as i had thought it would be. the chicken was too oily! made me feel queasy eating it. "overated" will be the word. nevertheless gd try! haha
I am always attracted by those modern-looking, sleek and low sofa sets. i was only considering on how the sofa shd look until my mum told me abt my uncle's encounter. they juz renovated their house recently and everything looks modernised now. however, instead of sitting on the sofa comfortably, my uncle has opted to sit on the floor juz so dat he can lean against the pillar. reason? the sofa back is too low, he can't lean his back against it properly. why did this happen? designer fault. too obsessed with image that practicability has been forgotten. that set me into thinking.
