christmas kettle;
Today, bong and i volunteered our services to the salvation army for the christmas kettle appeal activity. u noe whenever christmas is approaching, the salvation army will set up this red kettle at various locations and there will be ppl ringing the bell to attract yr attention? yes that was exactly wad we were doing. due to some communication breakdown, the person in charge actually put us down for 3 shifts at one go which equals to 6 hrs! can u imagine we actually stood there and ring the bell for 6 whole hours?! frm 11am to 5 pm! there was no proper break at all! phew it was so tiring... but when ppl come up to donate, we actually forgot our tiredness and felt very happy haha. there were quite a few "exciting" happenings which i shall not elaborate here cuz it's difficult to do so. saw quite a few ppl whom we know too and they were shocked to see us there, wearing aprons and ringing the bell haha. quite a satisfying activity in all but shd i ever participate in it again, pls no more 6 hrs in a row. haha.

holland v dinner;
Had dinner with HAVOCers at holland v today! cuz charl and i went to watch oliver twist at shaw tower so we were well... quite late for dinner haha. poor boon and lian had to wait for us. but hey good company is worth waiting for k! haha. bong couldn't join us as she had bad cramps...
Anyway boon got recommended by her fren to try this place which serves pasta but e thing is she doesn't noe e name of the restaurant! well done. so she and lian had to go search for it first and they settled on a highly possible restaurant. the place has quite a nice ambience. not many ppl on mon evening as well which is good. but the place was so dimly lit dat we could hardly see wad we're eating! haha. plus charl kept blowing off dat candle on our table "accidentally". food was good too. charl and i ordered aglio olio with grilled chicken. lian with her usual pasta with cream sauce. boon decided to try out pasta with squid ink juz cuz it comes with her fav scallop. haha it was good time spent and i'm going back holland v sometime SOON.

work attachment;
I was on work attachment for the past week and so didn't have time to blog abt it till today. i was attached to a gynae at Chan KH clinic located in Gleneagles hospital. a pity i wasn't born there if not i think i may have been more attached to it haha. anyway the past week has been really fun and i have seen LOTS of stuff that u normal ppl out there won't get to see. HAHA. wait till i list them all out.
A brief description of what i saw the entire week: 1 normal delivery, 2 normal delivery with help of forceps, 2 caesarians, 4 minor procedures, 2 operations.
Are all of u jealous now? i actually get to see new born babies just out of their mummies' tummies! haha. there's like the placenta, umbilical cord and of cuz the baby! it's really amazing and u can actually go wow looking at all that is happening. i shd think that the highlights of my attachment are the birth of these newborns.
In the beginning, i felt really uneasy and queasy at the sight of blood and internal organs everything. esp my first day in the operating theatre: i had to stand for so long and there was like this pungent smell which is caused by the "burning"/cutting of the inner body parts! my legs practically went soft and the world was spinning ard me. i didn't even have any appetite after that! however, at the end of the week, everything's fine and i am now IMMUNE to those stuff hehe. i can now observe an operation without even flinching. oh and the coolest thing is i get to change into those sterilised shoes, wear an operation garb, put on a "shower cap" and a mask and enter the OT haha.
One important thing that i have to tell everyone is... dun believe what is shown on tv serials! mothers in labour hardly feel anything at all and they are certainly not howling in pain cuz they have been injected with epidural-> know wad this is? hehe. so half the time they are just there breathing in deeply and pushing with all their might.
Yes now i can also roughly read those black and white scans of babies. i know where the head, abdomen, stomach, liver, heart, spine, thigh is! haha now can u imagine the future gynae LEE at work?

just like heaven;
It's been really nice today! after oral presentation, we had class outing and we watched JUST LIKE HEAVEN! surprisingly the guys had no objections to it hmm... haha. though the show was a typical love story but it was not so typical just yet. as in i found the storyline rather refreshing, dun rmb any other movies having similar stuff. it was sweet yet comical at the same time; some of the funny stuff were quite novel. the couple looked good together. it had a nice ending but it did not make the audience feel like it was some cliche stuff. most importantly, even the guys said it was good! psst: their msn nick is abt the movie now HAHA.
After dat, tiff jquek and i went cycling ard the neighbourhood. ok i sort of didn't noe how to cycle as it was really ages ago since i last touched the bicycle and i barely learnt how to cycle then! anyway, tiff and jquek were nice enough to teach me how to cycle and yes i've finally mastered the art of cycling! yay! did not make my two "masters" lose face haha. it was quite fun cycling ard. we got to see huge and pretty houses, enjoy the wind blowing against our faces- today's weather was great. and the two of them get to laugh at me for jumping off the bike whenever there's a car nearby and now tiff is calling me miss car-phobia. oh and i almost banged into this poor boy walking nearby and they were like laughing non-stop. urgh. STILL it's thanks to them dat i learnt how to cycle today. ok shall give them credit for dat. this is the advantage of having frens living near me i guess haha.
